Meet Jacqueline Jacobson
Jacqueline S. Jacobson is a former Senior Securities and Exchange Enforcement Attorney, with more than 30 years of white collar criminal defense experience. She has represented clients in many high-profile federal prosecutions in Chicago, including public corruption, bribery and health care fraud cases at the trial, appeal, and sentencing levels.
As a Senior Enforcement Attorney with the SEC, Jacqueline investigated and prosecuted complex and high-profile securities fraud cases, obtaining millions of dollars in penalties and fines for the U.S. Government in insider trading, market manipulation and other securities fraud actions. In 1995, Jacqueline received the Manuel F. Cohen award for legal excellence, one of the SEC’s highest honors.
Jacqueline also served as a staff attorney or the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, where she wrote significant legal opinions for several of the Court’s judges.
Leveraging her federal SEC securities fraud experience to assist clients on the other side of the bar, Jacqueline joined Monico & Spevack in 1986, a leading Chicago boutique white collar criminal defense firm, where she put her government experience to work, handling white collar defense, securities related offenses, regulatory enforcement, and federal sentencing and appeals.
Jacqueline founded the Law Offices of Jacqueline Jacobson in order to continue to represent individuals and businesses in all phases of state and federal criminal proceedings, including pre-indictment investigations, grand jury practice, criminal trials, plea negotiations, federal sentencing, bureau of prison advocacy, and prison placement.
Jacqueline has a particular focus in sentencing matters. Jacqueline’s broad experience, deep understanding of the federal sentencing guidelines, tenacity, and devotion to her clients has resulted in zero liability outcomes for clients in many regulatory and criminal investigations and favorable charging decisions in many others. Her understanding of the complexity and importance of federal sentencing has resulted in many cases with no prison time for her clients, probation, early release and work release alternatives, favorable prison assignments, and often statutory minimum sentences for white collar professionals, business owners, government officials, and other individuals convicted of serious crimes.
